Vehicle Requirements

Shuttlebee accepts a range of vehicle types to serve different trip needs. All vehicles must meet minimum safety and condition standards.

Minivan

5–7 passengers

Examples: Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey, Chrysler Pacifica

Best for: Small group school runs, family outings, medical transport

Requirements

  • 2016 or newer
  • Clean interior
  • Working A/C and heat
  • Seatbelts for all passengers

Passenger Van

8–15 passengers

Examples: Ford Transit, Ram ProMaster, Mercedes Sprinter

Best for: Sports teams, after-school programs, group events

Requirements

  • 2016 or newer
  • Commercial registration
  • Working A/C and heat
  • Step assist or ramp (recommended)

Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV)

4–8 passengers + wheelchair positions

Examples: BraunAbility-converted vans, MobilityWorks vehicles

Best for: Paratransit, medical appointments, senior transport

Requirements

  • WAV certification required
  • Tie-down and securement system
  • Driver trained in passenger assistance

School Bus / Activity Bus

16–72 passengers

Examples: Blue Bird, IC Bus, Thomas Built

Best for: School field trips, large group charters, sporting events

Requirements

  • CDL license required
  • Commercial inspection
  • School bus inspection (if yellow bus)

Universal Requirements

  • Vehicle must pass annual inspection in your state of registration
  • Clean, well-maintained interior (no odors, torn seating, or debris)
  • First aid kit on board
  • Fire extinguisher accessible to driver
  • Working cell phone mount/holder for navigation
  • Commercial auto insurance with minimum $1M liability

Vehicle Inspection

Before your first trip, Shuttlebee may request photos or documentation of your vehicle. For higher-capacity vehicles, a third-party inspection may be required. All inspection costs are covered by the operator.
